I did twenty million things this weekend.

First, i went to a Magic Prerelease for the new set, Morningtide. 'Twas fun, but as usual i tanked my way to 16th place out of 60. A lot of really friendly people were there, and talking to them was a blast.

Not bad, i suppose, but my friend Mason beat the hell out of me by getting an amazing 5-0 undefeated win record. He got first place out of 60, and got an extra 10 packs for his troubles. Damn, son!

Secondly, i went and saw Cloverfield. The movie was stylish and very fun to watch. A lot of really intense scenes complimented almost silent sections. One thing about it, though. If you wanna see it, jesus christ do NOT sit in the front 15 rows of the theater. The screen shakes so much it gave me a headache until i went up into the higher portions of the theater.

It's a lot like Blair Witch Project, but there's a lot of new and innovative things to do with a camcorder. I was impressed. The script was really cool, too: bouts of sarcasm and random jokes were just my kind of humor.

So, overall, I'd recommend it. It seems like one of those movies where everyone should watch it, at least once.

We saw C-field too. I liked it -- I thought the movie had "Call of Cthulhu" written all over it. The big monster was awe-inspiring and very effectively introduced.

Things that were not so good: 1) the baby monsters looked like the stole the wiremodels from Startship Troopers, 2) I had a hard time mustering much sympathy for the neo-yuppie cast.

Also: don't you think it had to be a joke that Biff was being sent to Japan just before a giant monster eats New York. I'm just sayin' is all.
