So yesterday i was surfing teh intarwebs and i saw that a new Ladytron album was released! Very excited, i hauled over to a CD store and picked it up for 16 bucks. Very satisfying, in my opinion. It's a little more 'noisy' than previous albums i think ( prominent percussion, reverb, less synth-pop kind of deal ) but it's not a huge departure from their style. In fact, i think it's my favorite album of the ones i have.
also, going to the East on tuesday! woohoo! This probably means no updates for like 3 weeks, although i realize that's nothing out of the ordinary around this blog :(

Guns, Rockets, and Instant Karma.
the end of the Colorado State tests are coming up for sophmores and juniors this Thursday and Friday morning, 6.00-12.00, meaning that seniors don't have to come to school until 12.45. It also means that that entire schedule for the day is squeezed into the remaining school day, making every class roughly 35 minutes long.
This, then, poses the question: Why even make us go to school in the first place?
bleh.
also,
I've been tinkering with the half-finished rules of that CRSA Mech game i made up, and i've streamlined it, getting rid of some weird rules and simplifying it. This 'condensed' version, i think, will be a lot more fun to play, as well as being a little more acessible.
Playtesting will soon commence as soon as i get a Hex-board and some dice, and as soon as i can get my game-jaded friends together to try it.
Gameplay consists of creating a mechanical suit of armor for yourself, complete with your choice of guns, rockets, swords, bombs, and other assorted tools of blowing up stuff. You then run around in an arena of some kind, blasting away at your opponent. I really hope i can playtest this to the point where i could (maybe) publish it. Or something. :0
Other game rules are in the works, as well. i seriously can't stop making up rules for things.
(Haley says: "Join Congress" -_- )

I did twenty million things this weekend.
First, i went to a Magic Prerelease for the new set, Morningtide. 'Twas fun, but as usual i tanked my way to 16th place out of 60. A lot of really friendly people were there, and talking to them was a blast.
Not bad, i suppose, but my friend Mason beat the hell out of me by getting an amazing 5-0 undefeated win record. He got first place out of 60, and got an extra 10 packs for his troubles. Damn, son!
Secondly, i went and saw Cloverfield. The movie was stylish and very fun to watch. A lot of really intense scenes complimented almost silent sections. One thing about it, though. If you wanna see it, jesus christ do NOT sit in the front 15 rows of the theater. The screen shakes so much it gave me a headache until i went up into the higher portions of the theater.
It's a lot like Blair Witch Project, but there's a lot of new and innovative things to do with a camcorder. I was impressed. The script was really cool, too: bouts of sarcasm and random jokes were just my kind of humor.
So, overall, I'd recommend it. It seems like one of those movies where everyone should watch it, at least once.

Suffer Not The Heretic To Live

Here's a space marine. He's hyped up into a religious fervor. or something.
Also,

a pointy-eared mask wearing badass. His shank got lopped off in the process of scanning, though. I'm bad with this newfangled technology...
I really like drawing with Uni-ball pens. Just tons of lines, all layered over each other. It looks really cool, and it's easy to cover mistakes.
I'll post again soon, going to a Magic: The Gathering Prerelease tournament for the new set of cards coming out on saturday... It's going to be fun, at the very least.
PROS: Kicking ass with cards that haven't been released for sale yet.
CONS: Weird, balding men who giggle about doing seven damage on turn three. o_O
